Every Move Matters — So Does Every Dollar

Canada Chess Foundation is a volunteer-driven, donation-funded charity. We run free demo sessions, senior Alzheimer's programs, and school workshops entirely because people like you believe chess can change lives.

Why It Matters

Where Your Donation Goes — and Why It's Needed

Fighting Alzheimer's Through Chess

Clinical research confirms that regular chess play stimulates the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus — the regions most affected by Alzheimer's. Our free senior sessions are a direct, evidence-based intervention. Every donation funds another hour of cognitive exercise for a Canadian elder who cannot afford private coaching.

Free Demo Classes Cost Real Money

Each free demo session requires a Grandmaster's time, a licensed video platform, teaching materials, and administrative support. We charge nothing to the student — but the cost is real. Your donation directly covers these operating expenses so we never have to turn a curious child away.

Reaching Under-Served Communities

We run chess programs in community centres, libraries, and schools across Ontario — many in neighbourhoods where families cannot afford extracurricular activities. Donations let us bring world-class chess education to kids who would otherwise never encounter it.

Building the Next Generation of Canadian Champions

Several of our scholarship students have gone on to represent Canada in international youth tournaments. Talent is everywhere — opportunity is not. Your support creates the bridge between raw potential and competitive achievement.

The Real Cost of "Free"

Free to the Student. Funded by You.

When a child books a free demo class with GM Abhijeet Gupta, they pay nothing. But behind that session is a real cost: a Grandmaster's preparation time, a licensed video conferencing platform, custom teaching materials, and the administrative work of scheduling, confirming, and following up. We absorb every one of those costs so the student never has to.

Real Impact

Lives Changed by Your Support

"My father has early-stage Alzheimer's. Since joining the CCF senior chess group he is sharper, more engaged, and actually looks forward to Tuesdays. This program is a lifeline."

Priya M.

Daughter of a CCF senior participant

"I had never touched a chess piece before the free demo. Now I'm preparing for my first provincial tournament. None of this would have happened without the Foundation."

Ethan K.

CCF student, age 14
