We are on a mission to harness the power of chess to fight Alzheimer's, ADHD, and learning difficulties — while building a stronger, sharper Canada, one move at a time.
Who We Are
More Than a Chess School
The Canada Chess Foundation was founded by Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta with a vision that goes far beyond teaching chess moves. We are a non-profit-minded organisation dedicated to using chess as a vehicle for cognitive health, academic enrichment, and community building across Canada.
Our programs serve children, adults, and seniors — from beginner group classes and one-on-one coaching to school partnerships and senior wellness programs. Every program is designed with one goal: to make people's lives better through the transformative power of chess.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, we operate both in-person and fully online — reaching students across Canada and around the world.

Rahul Viswanath founded the Canada Chess Foundation with support of Abhijit with a deeply personal mission: to use chess as a tool to fight cognitive decline, support children with Cognitive abilities, and give every student the best of their inntelligence and memory — regardless of background — every Canadian deserves the best access to world-class instruction to Chess on his GM journey .
Today he leads the Foundation's programs, coaches, students career path and continues to encourage and support thousands through his unique blend of elite expertise and experience with genuine care for his students' growth.

Our Journey
How We Got Here
Canada Chess Foundation established by GM Abhijeet Gupta in Toronto, Ontario, with a mission to fight Alzheimer's through chess.
Launched our first in-school chess curriculum program, partnering with elementary schools in the Greater Toronto Area.
Expanded fully online tailored copurse by GM's, enabling students across Canada and internationally to access PRO coaching Remotely.
Reached a milestone of over 1,000 demos conducted & trained, our student Vikrant acheives 1706 rating in 36 online sessions through new GM led course
Launched dedicated senior cognitive wellness program, partnering with care homes and community centres .
Delivered over 300 free demo classes in 2025 alone, making chess accessible to hundreds of new students across Canada.
